For the sixth edition of AIR RIVER BAR, AIR Antwerpen invited Bert Jacobs. Co-organized with Michael Langeder from Different Fountains, Bert Jacobs created a site-specific installation which will functioned as the decor for a night full of concerts. This setting was made out of party zombies and two voodoo giants, a pinata and a stage. Inviting a mix of local talent and international established musicians the evening starts with Dj Meeuw, followed by Orphan Fairytale who creates a fairylike, mystic and hypnotizing sound world using only self-made electronics, toy instruments, cassette loops and small keyboards. Taking over by Asuna, mainly using an old reed organ and electronics, thereafter Blodfet & DJ will bring you lonely misplacing patterns to generate improper bliss with industrial noise and synth pop, from a musical unconscious. When the sun sets down the preacher will rise, called Mr Vast. Yes, he really performs on stage, no he is not just a person and his laptop, it's Mr Vast! The high-street shaman in the sequined dress, he comes with crazy costumes, weird stories and excellent entertainment to make people dance. Ending the night with DJ SoFa and Deep-house DJ Chris Ferreira. This latter is greatly influenced by French hip-hop in his adolescent years resolting in a highly eclectic taste for music. AIR River Bar is an evening in the lock-keepers house, with a focus on artist run initiatives, organized outside of the institutional and commercial circuit. Every edition focuses on this initiative through installations, concerts, performances and/or screenings. AIR River Bar questions the specificity of these projects and how they represent an artist community. |
